At 7:00pm on the day that the Affirmative Action decision is announced, AAPF will host a virtual roundtable to offer rapid responses that address the content and implications of the decisions. We are inviting leading lawyers, scholars, activists, and thought leaders to join the discussion over zoom. This roundtable seeks to provide a critical, reflective, and forward-looking response that aligns with the growing movement to demand the freedom to learn. In the past, some civil rights organizations have adopted very careful messaging on recent USSC decisions downplaying judicial retrenchments to deter institutions from overreach–e.g., reading more into the decision than what is there and practicing anticipatory compliance. This roundtable will offer a critical assessment in real time of the legal, political, and cultural landscape for racial remedies in the wake of these most recent affirmative action decisions.
