Each December, the Denver community comes together on the shortest day of the year to honor those neighbors who passed away in the preceding year while experiencing homelessness. This year’s We Will Remember: Homeless Persons’ Memorial Vigil will feature a short program including music, a eulogy, and the reading of the names of each individual experiencing homelessness who died in 2023 by local community members, followed by the crowd recitation of “We Will Remember” after each name.
For 34 years, the Coalition has hosted this event in honor of those who have died in the previous year. For many, this will be the only service to mark their death.
Please join us at 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 21st outside the Denver & City County Building located at 1437 Bannock Street. In addition to the program, luminary memorials will be placed outside the building, each with the name of an unhoused neighbor who passed. Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to the event here and share the event via Eventbrite or Facebook.
To honor someone who has passed away at this year’s Denver Vigil this year, please fill out this form to include their name.
Winter Wear Donations: Winter is a dangerous time for our unhoused neighbors and warm clothing can go a long way to keeping everyone safe. Please consider bringing a NEW, ADULT coat, as well as warm socks, gloves, or other new winter wear to donate.
